Why I’m Running
I’m running because every decision made by the School Board should come back to one thing: what is best for our children.
Every child deserves a safe classroom, a strong education, and a real opportunity to succeed after graduation.
My years in business, logistics, and community service have taught me that good intentions matter—but follow-through matters, too. Progress requires clear goals, responsible decisions, careful execution, and accountability for results.
That is the approach I will bring to the School Board.
We may not agree on every issue, but I believe we can agree on this: our children must come first.

As a parent, lifelong Charleston resident, business owner, and community leader, Darryl Griffin understands the importance of strong schools to local families and the wider community. His decades of experience leading people, managing resources, and solving complex problems have prepared him to bring a practical, accountable approach to the School Board.

+ How will you support teachers?
Start by listening to them. Teachers need the tools, classroom support, and working environment necessary to do their jobs well. The district must make recruiting and retaining excellent educators a real priority.
+ What will you do about academic performance?
We must strengthen reading and math, identify learning gaps early, and provide effective support before students fall further behind. The district should set clear goals, measure progress, and communicate results honestly.
+ How will you help keep schools safe?
Students and educators deserve safe, orderly schools. That requires clear expectations, consistent policies, appropriate resources, and communication among school leaders, teachers, parents, and the community.
+ What about student discipline?
Discipline should be fair, consistent, and focused on protecting the learning environment. Students need accountability, but they also need appropriate support that addresses problems before they become patterns.
+ What role should parents have?
Parents are essential partners in education. They deserve clear communication, meaningful opportunities to be heard, and a School Board that takes their concerns seriously.
+ How will you spend taxpayer dollars responsibly?
Every major expenditure should be connected to a clear student benefit. The district should communicate how money is being used, measure whether programs are working, and reconsider spending that is not producing results.
+ How will you keep politics from distracting the Board?
The Board’s work should stay focused on student achievement, classroom quality, safety, and preparation for life after graduation. Decisions should be based on facts, local needs, and what best serves our students.
